A perfect getaway.
One of the first things guests seem to notice at the Top Shack is the quiet. Windows are double glazed and the building itself is heavily insulated, walls, ceiling, and between levels which creates a sense of stillness. As an internal block we have plenty of neighbours, but none of them are home to permanent residents and almost all are facing away from us (to make the most of the same view we love!). The summer months are obviously busier - but any extra sounds are happy holiday noises and we’ve always enjoyed it.
Entry into the Top Shack is via the ground floor into a mud room with space to kick off your shoes, hang up jackets, (or dump your beach towels), then you head upstairs. Living and dining are combined towards the front of the main level and arranged so that you can unwind on the cushy sofa, watch a movie, read a book, or take a nanna nap - there's no judgement here. When it's time to eat, you can dine with a birds eye view of the sun setting across Great Oyster Bay.

Nice Words about the Top Shack….
Home away from home….
“Top Shack is the stand out best AirBnB I've ever stayed in. The host has thought of everything, so much so, that despite its proximity to Wineglass Bay and the outstanding beauty of Freycinet National Park, we had to drag ourselves out of the house as it was filled with light, games, books, coffee machine, BBQ, surrounded by birds and beaches. It was so nice just being in this home. The hosts were responsive, kind and accommodating. It was larger than we expected and we didn't want to leave. Would go back there in an instant. Magic spot, great home and perfect hosts..”

Designed for comfort…
“Ros' AirBNB shows an amazing attention to detail which makes it self-sufficient in a quiet and private area that has otherwise nothing much to do. Overall no complaints, easily one of the best Airbnbs I've been to - definitely not one of the lazily kept ones. 1. Kitchen - absolutely amazing amenities and very well stocked with basic spices/herbs/oils. Most impressively good quality utensils, knives, pots, boards, cultery etc. Place also has a coffee machine that our Melbourne coffee snobs enjoyed utilising. All this coming from a group of dedicated home cooks who all marvelled at how well stocked Ros' place was. 2. Elevated living area - daily sunsets and sunrises were easy to behold from the living room. Being the highest point around, we had unobstructed views of Mt Amos and the bays. We spent lots of time in, cooking, chatting and just enjoying the Tasmanian scenery, all from within this space. We also had photographers in our group who delighted in golden hour pics from within..”

Stay a while…
“My husband and I spent a wonderful week in this delightful house. We would gladly return with friends or with family. It is spacious and has many areas where one can withdraw to read or simply to enjoy the incredible sea view. Ros has put a great deal of attention to details, which made us feel at home from the get go. Thank you so much , Ros. It was hard to leave ….”
